School Alternative

The Center for Semi-Conducted Learning is a space for kids to learn, play, work on projects, hang out, get things done, all in the company of friendly, curious, and inspiring peers and grownups.  It is not an alternative school, but an alternative to school — an educational resource center designed to facilitate and promote self-directed learning and the creative use of technical skills.   For some kids it’s a full-time school-replacement, and for others it’s an interesting place to drop by once a week and hang out with their friends.    CSCL runs Monday-Thursday, with a field trip on Friday, offering a combination of classes, workshops, tutoring, tools, resources, friends, time, and space.
