Bring your broken stuff to Union Square on Sunday June 10th from 12-3pm and our talented volunteers will help you learn how to repair it! Learn to solder, fix bikes, sew, and tinker with your broken household items at the fourth Fixer Fair. Sponsored by the Somerville Arts Council ArtsUnion series and organized by the Somerville Tool Library and Parts and crafts, Fixer Fair celebrates repair in our disposable culture. Free and open to the public. LEARN MORE HERE.
Every Saturday we open up our shop, from 12:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. to families and other curious folks who want to come in, look around, and make something (or make something happen!) People are encouraged to come to open shop with projects and ideas of their own that they’d like to work on and explore, but we’ll always have something in mind to get you started if you’re suffering from maker’s block. Participation is free / by donation.
Open shop is free / by donation! In addition to our drop-in hours, we run guest workshops with visiting artists, tinkerers and crafty folks who want to come share their cool project with kids. Some are free, some cost money, all are worth checking out! Geared for kids age 7-13, parents and younger siblings are welcome to hang out at open shop at no additional cost.
