We work with a wide community of local artists, tinkerers, educators, engineers, and interesting folks. Do you make pie? Sew costumes? Make synthesizers? Hack cameras to study plant photosynthesis? Like to take stuff apart? If so, we’d love to talk to you! We’re always looking for instructors to run classes and workshops as part of our various programs.
If you’re interested in volunteering, have a look at our volunteer page and see how your interests and availability intersect with our schedule and needs.
The constraints are tighter if you want to be paid to teach, though we consider helping people make a living with their crafts and their passions to be part of our mission. We have time-slots available for classes and workshops on Saturday mornings and afternoons, as well as during afterschool hours (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 3:30-5:30.)
We pay instructors 50% of the income that we receive from a class. Most of our classes are geared towards kids between the ages of 7 and 13, have between 4 and 8 students, and cost $25 for a 1.5 hour session, though the price, timing, age, and size logistics are variable to suit the needs of different instructors and topics. If you have something you’re interested in teaching, given these realities, send us an email and we can work out the specifics.
